Work Overview:
We created a short-form video for the Studio Museum in Harlem to celebrate the opening of its new 82,000-square-foot building. Using a blend of archival footage and modern-day visuals, the film highlights the museum’s transformative journey from its original location to its new home, capturing the rich cultural legacy of Harlem and the museum’s role as a contemporary art hub.
Objectives:
To visually narrate the Studio Museum’s history, community connection, and evolution from its original location to its new building.
To create a compelling, cohesive video that seamlessly integrates archival footage and modern-day visuals while reflecting Harlem's vibrant cultural heritage.
Scope of Work:
Our team was responsible for combining archival footage with modern visuals using innovative camera techniques and creative transitions. We utilized static frames of iconic Harlem streets, Super 8/VHS-style transitions, and dynamic visual storytelling to create a seamless journey through time. The film bridges the museum’s past with its future, connecting archival images of Harlem’s brownstones, churches, and landmarks with modern-day visuals of the neighborhood and the new museum space.
Conclusion:
This short-form video successfully tells the story of the Studio Museum in Harlem, capturing its historical significance, its community’s cultural legacy, and its exciting future in its new state-of-the-art facility. Through thoughtful design and storytelling, we created a dynamic and visually engaging narrative that celebrated this pivotal moment in the museum's history.
